Birds at Kabulonga Dam, Lusaka, 1970–1973

Bulletin of the Zambia Ornithological Society 12(1):13–31

I taught at Kabulonga Boys’ School, Lusaka, Zambia 1970–1976 and during the first three years I recorded regular visits to Kabulonga Dam, about a kilometre east of the school, on average once every three days. The water body with its associated marsh and reed-beds no longer exists.

The report logged the 233 species at the site, by myself and others, some outwith my personal recording period. The total records per month are converted to an index of the monthly totals, standardised with the maximum of ten, to demonstrate seasonal trends.
